Nothing can beat homemade bread and in this extended baking class, I will show you how to make Focaccia bread and dinner rolls from the same batch of dough. I have included a checklist for you as well in the description box in YouTube. I have made this class a step by step easy to follow recipe for people with little or no baking experience. Remember the dinner rolls will take 20 minutes and the Focaccia 25 minutes on 180C, so take the dinner rolls out of the oven first. Right, let's get baking...... Country of Origin : Egypt INGREDIENTS:
  • 3 and 1/3 cups high grade flour
  • 1/4 cup raw sugar
  • 1 tsp salt
  • 1 sachet instant yeast
  • 1 cup warm milk
  • 1 large egg
  • 1/4 cup melted butter
  • 1 tsp minced garlic
Garnish prior to baking for dinner rolls
  • 6 cloves fresh garlic chopped finely
  • 1 tbsp dried basil
  • 2 tbsp melted butter
  • 2 tbsp extra virgin olive oil
Leave in an oiled bowl for hour and a half to double in size. Divide half the dough after proving into 9 pieces - put in parchment lined square tin 8" x 8" Other half for Focaccia in a 10" x 7" Check List Before You Start:
  • 1) Make sure your room environment is not less than 14C or higher than 28C
  • 2) Check the expiry date of your yeast and milk
  • 3) Protein percentage in your flour should be 12% or higher
  • 4) Be prepared to knead your bread for 15 minutes all up, if you are not using mixer with a dough hook or a bread maker.
  • 5) Always use fresh free range eggs
  • 6) Make sure your dry yeast is not in contact directly with salt. Mix your salt through the flour first.
  • 7) Always make sure you give the dough enough time to double in size before baking.

To get more height on the dinner rolls, especially if it is a cold day , leave your bread to proof in a warmer area of the house.
