With this Mushroom Penne Pasta, you have your starter and main course on the one plate. Start with Italian bread with centre carved out and made into slices of garlic bread, while the centre is filled with mushroom, layers of streaky bacon, red onion and cheese penne pasta, topped with grilled parmesan. In the pasta is four layers of streaky bacon as well. Just watch the video and melt every five minutes as you make it.
1 loaf of Italian bread or Sourdough
100 grams butter salted
4 cloves garlic crushed
Small sprig of parsley chopped
6 button mushrooms sliced
1 red onion finely chopped
9 - 12 rashers streaky bacon
50 grams butter
4 tbsp flour
400mls of milk
2 cup of grated cheddar cheese
1/2 cup of grated parmesan cheese.
The best way is to put this mushroom penne pasta in the middle of the table, Put a side plate , a butter knife and some stuffed olives on each plate, along with a couple of long bread knives, for taking slices off the bread. Also if there are a group of you going hiking or off on an adventure, this is perfect to provide all the carbs you need for the day. There is a lot of flour in this dish, so also consider serving some light fruit as well - grapes, strawberries and kiwifruit would be ideal.
